2019 was named the The International Year of Indigenous Languages by the United Nations, which has now been extended to the entire decades of the 2020s. GALA, in collaboration with InterpretAmerica, wants to highlight new training resources for indigenous language interpreters in this informative, live Webinar. With the publication of The Indigenous Interpreter® training manual and workbook in 2019, a 60-hour, 21-module training program designed to target and overcome specific barriers to the interpreting profession and skill acquisition by indigenous interpreters is available. This presentation by one of the training’s lead creators and authors will walk you through the development, recruitment and implementation process required to bring this program to life.
ATA Webinar Series: Educational Interpreting: Emerging Specialization

FIT North America and JNCL-NCLS: Symposium on Translation and Interpreting for Indigenous Languages

Katharine Allen will be representing InterpretAmerica at the upcoming FIT-North America Symposium on “Translation and Interpreting for Indigenous Languages." The event is in honor of and aligned with the FIT 2019 Theme for International Translation Day, honoring the United Nation’s International Year of Indigenous Languages. The Symposium is open to all interested parties and will be held in downtown Montréal at the headquarters of l’Ordre des Traducteurs, Terminologues, et Interprètes Agréés (OTTIAQ). Registration will open shortly and will be limited to the first 30 in-person attendees. A webcast will also be available.
