15 January 2016 Voting update: Thank you to all who took the time to vote for The Interpreter film project as 2015 Indiewire project of the year. The competition was stiff and the project finished 5th out of 12. Not bad at all. The good news is production of the film is moving forward and there will be many other opportunities to promote this film and the important issue it addresses.
Back in August 2015, YOU (individual interpreters and language service companies) flexed your muscles and opened your wallets to help make The Interpreter a reality by supporting the film’s KickStarter campaign. Because of your support, the project was able to garner over $27k in initial funding to make it a reality. Production is now scheduled for May and June 2016. More production updates below.
Now we have even more great news. The Interpreter film has been nominated for 2015 Indiewire project of the year, along with 11 other projects. The winner of this prestigious award will be given a spot at the Tribeca Film Institute's Filmmaker and Industry Meetings at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. About the possibility, Director Robert Ham said,
Getting this issue in front of big film industry folks at such a prestigious film festival like Tribeca would be amazing for our film, but more importantly, it would draw greater attention to the interpreters that we have left behind.

PRODUCTION UPDATE ON THE INTERPRETER:
Director Robert Ham scouting for locations to shoot film The Interpreter. This set was used originally to film American Sniper.
Now for a production update from the film’s director, Robert Ham:
“We’ve been scouting for filming locations and have started to look for a casting director. We are in talks with the US Army now about their potential participation in and help with the film. Additionally, we are in talks with several organizations to provide matching funds, which will help increase the production value of the film. Full pre-production will start in April, and we are looking at shooting in late May and early June. Post production is slated for summer so that we can have the film ready for the fall/winter film festival circuit.”

We will continue to provide project updates throughout the year.
